About this tour
This eight-hour self-guided combo pairs two of Louisiana's most thought-provoking plantations into a single, deeply rewarding day. With an audio device in hand, you move through each site at your own rhythm, lingering where the stories move you most.
Your morning begins at Whitney Plantation in Wallace, the nation's first museum dedicated to the lives of the enslaved. Wander the restored cabins, memorials, and Wall of Names as the audio guide shares firsthand accounts preserved from the Federal Writers' Project.
After a comfortable midday ride aboard our executive bus, you'll arrive at Laura Plantation in Vacherie. Here the story shifts to four generations of a Creole family, narrated through the memoirs of Laura Locoul Gore — a vivid contrast of color, culture, and personal history against the morning's sobering reflection.
Departure is at 8:00 AM with door-to-door hotel pickup included. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a light layer for the bus.
